Maps appear on pages opposite the topics they illustrate. Extensive documentation and pertinent detail make this atlas a valuable aid to historians. Its fluent style and simplicity of language make it an excellent reference book for high schools, colleges, and public libraries. Author Beck is chairman of the Department of History in California State College. Author Haase is a professional geographer and cartographer in Santa Barbara, California.
