The French Canadians, on the other hand, show a higher percentage of literacy, with the exception of the Irish, than any other race, 91. 9 per cent under 14 years of age at time of arrival being able to read and to read and write, while of those 14 years of age or over at time of coming to this country 80. 9 per cent can read and 78. 4 per cent can read and write. CONJUGAL CONDITION. The following table shows the percentage of employees 20 years of age or over from whom information was secured in each conjugal condition, by sex and general nativity and race: Table 178. --Per cent of employees 20 years of age or over in each conjugal condition, by sex and general nativity and race.
