U.S.A.: Little Brown & Company, 1976. Minor edge and corner wear; no dj; lightly scuffed and scratched; corners are gently bumped and rubbed; some light shelf wear; ex-library with the usual library markings; overall a nice used copy! Gray cloth with silver lettering on the spine and a silver illustration on the front board. Illustrated endpapers. 364 historical and artistic pages nicely enhanced by black and white and full-color illustrations and photographs! "In 1953 Jean Tinguely left Basle, where he had grown up, and moved to France. He was then twenty-eight years old. He needed a change of climate, both in his surroundings and in his art. It must be said at once that Tinguely's way of life and his art are closely interconnected. This is also the reason why biographical details loom relatively large in this attempt to describe Tinguely's work........". First Edition. Gray Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Ex-Library.

Title: Jean Tinguely Meta By: K.G. Pontus Hulten Publisher: New York Graphic Society year: 1975 1st US Edition Hardback with grey cloth end boards. Has Full color Dust Jacket. ISBN 0821205471 364 pages with 519 Illustrations and 13 in color, this uniquely printed book has transparent and overlay pages with notes and letters and art. A very unique and well thought out book about this amazing 20th century artist. Jean Tinguely, a fluxus era and style artist, if you can be in the Fluxus style, shows his kinetic and sometimes destructive and demolishing art sculptures. He gained recognition in the 1950’s in Britain with happenings and one notable one was of paint spools spilling into the streets. He later created a piece for the Museum of Modern Art in NYC that demolished itself almost causing harm to spectators. A remarkable book filled and as chaotic as the art of this Fluxus artist. Condition: The binding is fine with minimal signs of use or wear, tight binding with no loose pages, some pages show the book was opened. Very light staining on the first and last page from the ink of the Rorschach on inside of the front and back cover. Small pencil price on the first page on top right. Dust Jacket is intact but shows chipping and wear and a part of the lower section of the front is missing. Please ask for more images for details. Books.

Boston: New York Graphic Society, 1975. Hardcover. VG/G- (some age toning along textblock, dustjacket has significant wear and is fastened to book, several creases and tears, still protects the book). Gray cloth boards with silver gilt lettering along spine, off-white pictorial dustjacket with color illustration and black lettering, 364 pp., bw illustrations throughout. "Tinguely is clearly a successor of the Dadaists, a believer in the anarchist principle that destruction can be creative. His works are elaborate, satisfying, photogenic, and sometimes rather awesome. The comment on modern civilization is obvious. Pontus Hulten, the former curator of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, is now Director of the Plastic Arts Department at the Musee National d'Art Moderne in Paris. He organized the historic 'Machine' exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, and has been a friend and collaborator of Tinguely'S. This detailed account of the artist's career includes a number of fascinating unpublished documents, among them letters and postcards full of inexhaustible (and sometimes indecipherable) artistic and mechanical inventions." - from dust jacket.
