The records are contained in four books: A having 12 leaves, size 14 x 6 1/2 inches; B 9 leaves, 15 x 7 1/2 inches; C 7 leaves, 22 1/2 x 12 inches; and D 16 leaves, 15 x 10 inches. In all save the last the entries have been made on parchment. There are, as will appear, a few gaps, and in binding the chronological order has not always been followed. The copy aims at being an exact reproduction of the original in every respect, dotted lines being used where the Ms. is illegible, and square brackets where anything has been interlineated or added to the context by a later hand. Much of the first register book is quite illegible by the ordinary reader, and its transcription has given the writer not a little trouble.
