Bij het verschijnen van de eerste druk van dit boek, is er nogal aanmerking op gemaakt dat wij daarin geen woord vooraf hebben geschreven. Bij het verschijnen van de tweede druk doen wij dat nu wel. Men heeft ook de vraag gesteld dat wij met dit boek nu eigenlijk willen geven en daarbij de opmerking gemaakt, dat het wel lijkt op een verklaring van de Nederlandse Geloofsbelijdenis, maar dat toch niet is. Op die vraag kunnen wij antwoorden dat wij met dit boek beoogd hebben een complete gereformeerde geloofsleer te geven. Daarbij komen dan al de belijdenisgeschriften van de kerk ter sprake. Die belijdenisgeschriften zijn een voortreffelijk hulpmiddel om ons de Schrift te doen begrijpen. In haar belijdenisgeschriften spreekt de kerk immers Gods Woord na, geeft zij een korte samenvatting van de leer der Schrift. Wij moeten de belijdenisgeschriften daarom ook altijd lezen en verklaren in het licht van Gods Woord. Wij moeten niet in de eerste plaats vragen wat de mensen hebben bedoeld, die de belijdenisgeschriften hebben opgesteld, maar wat de HERE ons zegt in zijn Woord. Wij zijn blij dat er een volgende druk van dit boek nodig is. Daaruit blijkt toch dat er behoefte is aan zo'n boek en dat er nog christenen zijn, die dit boek kopen en lezen en bestuderen om meer kennis te verkrijgen van de HERE, van zijn Woord en zijn werken. Wij hebben dat als christenen ook broodnodig, vooral in onze tijd. 't Spreekt vanzelf dat die kennis bij ons niet slechts een theoretische kennis mag zijn. die kennis moet bij ons een liefhebbende en praktische kennis zijn, waardoor wij ons aan de HERE verbonden weten en in heel ons leven rekening met Hem houden. A self-referencing interferometer based closed-loop adaptive optics controller is developed which is designed to operate effectively under strong turbulence conditions. The aberrated optical field is modeled stochastically and then estimates of the state of the system are developed using a steady-state, fixed-gain Kalmanfilter. The phase of the optical field is considered the state of the system which is wrapped in a limited range of (- ; ]. This phase is unwrapped through the use of a least-squares reconstructor which has been modified to work effectively in the presence of branch points associated with strong turbulence. The conjugate of the optical phase is then applied to the system's deformable mirror in order to correct for the e ects of atmospheric turbulence on the optical field. The advances developed in this research are in the application of a steady-state, fixed-gain Kalmanfilter to the input of an adaptive optic system, unwrapping the optical phases after the field estimation, and improving the phase unwrapping by varying the domain of the rotational phase component present in strong turbulence. The system developed in this research is shown in computer simulation to be improved over current designs by comparing performance plotsof system Strehl ratios for systems utilizing the different designs.
