Covers Cheshire, Cumberland, Lancashire and Westmorland, with an appendix on the Isle of Man. Each county section is preceded by a short history, and comprises alphabetically arranged entries on every house. The aim has been to include those houses which have been demolished as well as those which still stand. Copiously illustrated in b&w with photographs, plus occasional contemporary drawings and other artwork. Indexed.
