Lever AIRO was commissioned into the Army of India Reserve of Officers (British Wing) in 1928, with a four year ante date for his previous Army service. From 1928 until 1937 he trained with 9 District Supply Coy., R.I.A.S.C., Bangalore. During the Second World War he served in Intelligence. It was just before the dropping of the atom bomb on Hiroshima that he attained his highest rank - Lieutenant-Colonel. He was then in charge of censorship cover to the force that was being mounted for the invasion of Japanese-occupied Malaya. After the war he commanded G.H.Q. Transit camp (2,500 British and 5,000 Indian troops) - 1946, and subsequently British Leave Camp, Bangalore (1,500) - 1946, the largest of its kind in the British Commonwealth. He was the camp's last Commandant". Printed in Great Britain. Bound in original maroon boards with bright gilt lettering to spine, in publisher's unclipped printed dustjacket.
