Die als Reaktion auf den Vietnamkrieg entstandene Sammlung von Texten enthält unter anderem Drogeninformationen, Anleitungen für die Herstellung von Sprengstoffen, Hinweise zur Umgehung von staatlicher Überwachung sowie viele andere kontroversen Themen – auf dem Stand der frühen Siebziger. Der Index Verlag macht dieses Zeitdokument nun auch in deutscher Sprache zugänglich. Es brodelt im Amerika der späten Sechziger. Die Supermacht USA war in der Mitte des Jahrzehnts in den Vietnamkrieg eingestiegen, an den Universitäten knüppelte die Polizei studentischen Protest nieder, die Bürgerrechtsbewegung formierte sich, während obendrein eine Drogenwelle zu rollen begann.
