If one had to summarize the contents of these works as briefly as possible, it would be to the effect that De Tactu is heavily experimental while Der Tastsinn is broader and more theoretical. Many of the experiments reported in detail in De Taatu are described more briefly in Der Tastsinn, so there is some overlap, but the translators felt that the overlap was not so great as to warrant an abbreviated version of either work. In fact, of the 7 major tables in De Tactu, only 2 are repeated in Der Tastsinn. This section of the Introduction will therefore focus on an exposition of the contents of the two works, with emphasis on the relationships between them.
