Our problem was to devise a suitable equipment for the regular teacher to use with forty-eight children in the ordinary classroom, and a course of work, teachable in her inexperienced hands, of real merit, educationally, in the development of the child. After experimenting a term or two in different schools, the following equip ment and course was devised. The unusual interest and delight Of the children in this work, together with the success of the teacher in pre senting it, led to its adoption for all the fourth-grade rooms in the city, about fifty in number.
