I would also acknowledge with sincere appreciation the valuable assistance of Miss Linda Maddry, a secretary in the department of mathematics at State College, Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a splendid stenographer and has copied and re-copied the manuscript many times. Without her assistance, I could not have finished the undertaking.
