This book is a comprehensive account of dust explosions and fires. The author (who was head of Industrial and Toxic Hazards Section Fire Research Station) covers both the theoretical and the practical aspects of the subject, beginning with an outline of the practical problems facing industry and moving on to examine the test methods used in various countries to assess the explosion and fire hazards of dusts. There is a critical discussion of research into the combustion of dusts on both laboratory and full industrial scales. The methods of obtaining proitection from fires and explosions are described and details are given of the application of protection to numerous common industrial processes. The book pays particular attention to dusts which have traditonally been regarded as an explosion hazard, but also covers newer industrial processes which involve fire and explosion risks. The book is in very good ocndition with light bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with a name written on the top edge of the title page. The clipped dustwrapper is very good with some shelf wear and light soiling. The top edge is rubbed and the spine ends are bumped. The spine is slightly faded.
