Good+ pictorial soft covers with black spiral binding, creased and edgeworn covers, some soiling; internally no inscriptions or marks. Located in the south-eastern coastline of Victoria, the Gippsland area was home to the Kurnai Aboriginal groups, numbering up to 3,000 in 1839, reduced to 200 odd by 1860. Gardner is a local historian in the area and systematically works through the pre-history, early white contact, then a series of massacres; kept secret for years. His history is detailed, with Footnotes highlighting primary sources, letters, pioneer memoirs, early newspaper articles and noted Australian historians. Contains maps and black & white photos; and the extensive footnotes at the rear. It has since been republished in book form, but very scarce. First Edition. Soft Cover. Good +/No Jacket - as Issued.
