Photographic dustwrapper, which shows the old Victorian National Gallery building at the top of Swanston Street. Blue and black coloured titles on the front panel and on spine. The National Gallery of Victoria came into being within a few years of the proclamation of the colony of Victoria. All in all a fascinating history of a Victorian icon.  The corners are slightly rubbed and there are some dust marks on the top edge of the paper. The dustwrapper is rubbed and faded and there are grubby marks on both the front and back panel. On front panel there is a tear running 4" from halfway up the book to the body of the panel. There is chipping to the bottom front edge with a 1" tear, 2" from the spine. On the back panel there is a piece missing 0.5" x1" in diameter and there is other chipping along the bottom edge.
