The photographs range from a group of labourers on an old-fashioned building site with wooden scaffolding poles, to the elegant Sunday morning promenade on the Brunswick lawns, and from a delightful wedding group where the bridegroom and male guest wore flat cloth caps, to a garden party in the grounds of the Royal Pavillion. Stree scenes with horse buses, trams, motor buses and charabans are also well represented, as is the sea-front with its piers, bustle and boats, and the once rural spots where ducks swim on the pond no more. An historical period is covered by the section on HMS King Alfred where 22,500 RNVR officers came for training. overall, Judy Middleton provides us with a book that contains a wide selection to suit all tastes.
