The text is illustrated with 57 illustrations in a green tone, and black-and-white -- 29 are full page. Black coloured boards with silver coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing a fountain pen, against a bone coloured background with black and green coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Melbourne as seen by its writers from the earliest -- Henry Haydon to Helen Garner.  Rubbing of the back strip edges, book corners and top book edges. Light foxing of the text block edges and to the first few and last few pages of the book. A previous owner has covered the dustwrapper in a clear plastic contact – inexpertly. The white of the dustwrapper has become yellowed and there are marks to the panels. Foxing to the verso along with some brown marks. Fading to the back strip.
