Tread Quietly is not about the 'name' fisheries; it is about the river alongside the road, or the stream just outside town - although there are tales of excursions into the backblocks, and many of New Zealand's more enticing rivers and lakes in the stories. There is insight too - into fishing the nymph during hot clear summers, using the sedge in the wee small hours of the morning, or stalking feeding cruisers along the edge of a lake. But there is little instruction. The insight comes as the stories and discussions unfold.".
