Maslen's account of the Bowyer ornament stock (1973). It is concerned with relief cuts, of wood or metal, incised for decorative purposes, and excludes both those used for illustration and arrays of cast type-ornaments. Included in separate subsections are four devices, that have an indexical (mainly identifying) function, and three engravings that are used as ornaments in conjunction with letterpress.
