Syed Tanvir Wasti inherits his love of poetry from his father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who were all professors of English literature, as well as scholars in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. He complements the achievements of his family by choosing to become proficient in Turkish. So far 20 of his research papers on aspects of late Ottoman history and politics have appeared in the journal Middle Eastern Studies published in London.
