Excerpt from Seventh Annual Report of the Board of Park Commissioners, 1908 It has been the policy of this Board to follow the original plans for the Parks as designed by Olmsted Brothers of Brookline, Mass., in so far as it is possible; but at the North Park the Board deviated from the original design by covering the gravel area or music court with loam and sowing it to grass seed. This music court, situated on North Main Street, was in reality the main entrance to the Park, and by its barren appearance gave strangers to the locality and the public, an unfavorable impression of the Park as a whole. By sowing the area to grass seed and laying out broad entrance walks the beauty of the place has been greatly enhanced. At some future time, when the conservatory for the department is established, the Board hopes to make this section decorative with semi-tropical plants set out in tubs and to lay out "ower beds, etc. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
