Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. I do not know how to write this without seeming gloom and intrigued, though, I can tell you that these are what this book is about. I do have hope that you, my reader, will find yourself herein. I can also tell you, however, that in every spark of many of the poems in this book, there are expressions of appreciation, gratitude, unspoken thoughts, and things that are hard and better left on paper, and that include love. A few of these poems are basically meant for fun and enjoyment been that I tend to write dark poems. And I guess, meaning get lost when words are heavy and dark. So, I started writing in a simpler and more moderate ways so that words could be understood better- and, of course, when I do share my work, I panic and hope that it will be accepted. I think that writing dark poems come from the scenes I witnessed when I was young: various kinds of unfortunate things that happened. So, this made me think of life as difficult and hard to live. I grew up surrounded by people who often strive hard, but with little success, and so they fall awry losing focus in what they want to achieve. When disputes occurred around my districts, there are always elderly to call to settle disputes, and all that was left for the youths were hearsays and peace around us. With this, I had a comfortable life in Nigeria; I played a lot, and I was surrounded by much laughter and excitement, and many courageous people who invigorated my life and aided my well-being in positive ways. Canada gave me the opportunities that many like and unlike me pray for. I arrived in the country when I was thirteen years old; I was disappointed that the snow wasn t a cloud like I had imagined after watching the first three Home Alone films. Canada taught me a lot- I learned about feminism, friendship, betrayal, secrecy, helplessness, admiration, and appreciation interwoven in a disease called racism. I became familiar with despicable acts of cyberbullying and bullying. I learned-like many other African immigrants-that I am black, and therefore I should expect the feeling of being removed; though for a while, I did not know being black can or could be accompanied by rejection. I learned about the importance of family, of having someone look out for you behind you in all kind of situations, be it sad, happy, fortunate or not. I learned about the hardships of finding and knowing the truth, about jealousy and envy. With all these and more, it is in Canada that I live, where I gained the wisdom to live life independently, like many other people. Hence comes the title of a specific poem in this book Aisles of Our Lives, from which the book title was derived Aisles. These aisles, be the struggles encountered or paths that we choose to walk or how we live life and the struggles to achieve some things worthy. Therefore, I write about my journeys, struggles and I added sparkles of life, magic, and adventure to create heartily vibrations in them. It was here that I became mature-I walked a lifetime within few years. It was here that I tried to learn to love, to enjoy nature as created. I met many amazing people, strangers, and connected with them within the few seconds that was shared. One of my professors was giving a lecture in class one day, and he said (I paraphrase), So you depend on strangers to help and uplift you. This made me wonder about myself, or even so, how often, strangers do the uplifting when we find ourselves alone. So, I hope, and I do have faith, that you, my reader, find yourself somewhere here, and only take whatever uplift and impact you in a positive way. I like to show gratitude even if in the smallest ways that I can. Thank you for reading this; I am thanking you from the heart of where I write, where my inspirations come from.
