This is an autobiographical account of some of Don's memories of growing up in High Falls on the Spanish River Ontario. The narrative is framed in a fictional story with some melodrama and fantasy that takes place over 24 hours at the modern hydro-electric site of High Falls. This is all that remains of the place that had up to 100 residents as a town. The actual town of High Falls was built about 1908 by the Canadian copper company, part of INCO, and disappeared in 1986. The site is now owned by VALE corporation. Moe returns to his place of childhood and trespasses, drawing the attention of company security. They sent an employee to find Moe, who had wandered through the site with his memories, but he could not locate Moe. A search begins, involving police and a helicopter. The crisis ended after Moe spent a cold night huddled in his favorite spot on the hill above the site of the long-disappeared town. The book is a letter to Don's family and those who lived in High Falls. Other readers may find it enjoyable.

Don Hayard's memories of his early life in High Falls Ontario on the Spanish river framed as a fictional return to the disappeared town sometime in the early 2000s. The span of memory is from about 1948 to 1961. In the engaging stage play, Ipperwash, Falen Johnson and Jessica Carmichael lead us to consider place, loss of home and dislocation from our roots. They presented the story as an explanation of the native peoples' connection to the land. I left the Blythe Theater with a mixture of excitement and sadness in my heart. Our industrial culture over the past 200 years has led to dislocation for most of us, as economics has forced people to move or has obliterated our places of youth, and in my case, both happened with High Falls. It had disappeared by 1980. Don Hayard's memories of his early life in High Falls Ontario on the Spanish river framed as a fictional return to the disappeared town sometime in the early 2000s.
