Offshoring of white-collar services: The existing literature regarding offshoring of white-collar services mostly focuses on Asia, particularly India. Indeed, the economy became a global symbol of offshoring and outsourcing of business services. Another key, but surprisingly neglected, location of offshoring is Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). It witnesses enormous growth of inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in professional services, resulting in the capital and knowledge transfers, but most important is the impact on the knowledge-based job market (employment in the industry may reach about 1 million people throughout the region). The period since European Union enlargement in 2004 has been depicted as success story of the economies. It lead to transformation of the economies from being manufacturing oriented towards more knowledge-intensive services. There have been four CEE economies analysed: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. Besides the main economies, there have been also newcomers to the industry: Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia. Global offshoring of services has recently been undergoing profound transformation due to automation and robotisation of tasks. It can be associated with the increased codification of knowledge, commoditisation of services and advancement in technology. Therefore much attention has also been paid to the emerging issues of robotic process automation (RPA), machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) in professional services. The books is a result of a holistic and an interdisciplinary research. It is enriched with conclusions from meetings with representatives of: authorities responsible for attracting FDI to particular economies associations of offshoring firms enterprises operating in professional services. It was also a result of numerous discussions with scholars during academic conferences and research seminars. The aim was to present a comprehensive picture of the recent global and local landscape of offshoring of white-collar services. Englisch, Buch.
