We cannot conceive, on the one hand, nothing becoming something, or, on the other, some thing becoming nothing. The words creation and destruction have no value, except as applied to phenomena. You may destroy a sovereign by melting, but you do not destroy the metal. You may dissolve the metal gold, but you have only destroyed the condition, not the substance.
