On a personal note, I regret that there seems little hope in the United Kingdom, if faced with a choice between closer relations with the United States or Europe, of choosing to join a `European Commonwealth´ of nations with a common currency. This is particularly unfortunate at this present time which sees a resurgence in historical tensions and rivalries between individual European states." Dies ist umso bedauerlicher, da in der heutigen Zeit ein Wiederaufleben historischer Spannungen und Rivalitäten zwischen einzelnen europäischen Staaten zu verzeichnen ist."
