En buena medida, los desarrollos contemporáneos de la teoría de la acción y de filosofía moral han vuelto a Aristóteles y, con él, a uno de sus principales comentadores, Tomás de Aquino. En esta línea, la presente investigación se plantea como un estudio sistemático e intratextual centrado en el análisis exhaustivo del concepto de imperium en Aquino. El progresivo desarrollo del tema permite advertir el alcance de la racionalidad práctica y descubrir la articulación existente entre mundos frecuentemente escindidos: lo psicológico y lo ético, lo natural y lo libre, lo corporal y lo espiritual, lo individual y social, lo legal y lo virtuoso, lo humano y lo divino. En la presente monografía el concepto de imperium, acto principal de la razón práctica gracias al cual la decisión es realizada en la acción, se revela como un instrumento hermenéutico que permite desvelar un horizonte en el que confluyen las grandes cuestiones psicológicas, políticas y morales. In recent decades human action has been situated as one of the privileged objects of Philosophy, and in a wider perspective, of human sciences. Many contemporary authors of action theory and of moral philosophy have turned back to Aristotle, and with him, to one of his principal commentators, Thomas Aquinas. Along these lines, the present investigation represents systematic and intratextual research centered on the analysis of the concept of imperium found in Aquinas. The progressive development of the topic allows us to realize the scope of practical rationality and to discover the joint existing between frequently divided worlds: the psychological and the ethical, the corporal and the spiritual, the individual and the social, the realm of nature and the realm of freedom, the human and the divine. In the present monograph the concept of imperium, the principal act of practical reason from which a decision is converted into action, is revealed as a hermeneutic instrument that permits an unveiling of a horizon where large psychological, political and moral matters come together. In den vergangenen Jahrzehnten ist das menschliche Handeln zu einem der bevorzugten Forschungsgebiete der Philosophie und, im weiteren Sinne, der Humanwissenschaften geworden. Viele zeitgenössische Arbeiten in den Bereichen der Handlungstheorie und der Moralphilosophie haben sich wieder Aristoteles und einem seiner bedeutendsten Kommentatoren, Thomas von Aquin, zugewandt. In diesem Kontext versteht sich die vorliegende Arbeit als eine systematische und intratextuelle Studie mit Schwerpunkt auf der umfassenden Analyse des Begriffs imperium bei Thomas von Aquin. Die fortschreitende Entwicklung des Themas erlaubt es, die Tragweite der praktischen Vernunft zu erkennen und die Verbindung zwischen häufig getrennten Welten aufzudecken: dem Psychologischen und dem Ethischen, dem Reich der Natur und dem Reich der Freiheit, dem Körperlichen und dem Spirituellen, dem Individuellen und dem Sozialen, dem Ordnungsmäßigen und dem Virtuosen, dem Menschlichen und dem Göttlichen. Der Begriff des imperium, des wesentlichen Aktes der praktischen Vernunft, durch den eine Entscheidung in eine Handlung umgesetzt wird, offenbart sich in der vorliegenden Monografie als ein hermeneutisches Instrument, das einen Horizont sichtbar zu machen vermag, in dem die großen psychologischen, politischen und moralischen Fragen zusammenfließen.
