The vibration of structures and components subjected to significant fluid dynamic loads is a problem experienced by a wide range of industries from civil engineering to power generation and chemical processing. For example, designers and engineers face similar problems whether they are dealing with the effects of winds on bridge decks or the interaction between high flow rates and closely-packed, long slender tubes in heat exchangers.
