"Poppyfield" was acquired by the Bremen Kunsthalle in 1911, prompting the protest of German artists against the arrival of French Modernism. However, the Bremen curator, Gustav Pauli, supported by well-known artists such as Liebermann and Kandinsky, defended the purchase. This argument, which was a matter of national interest at the time, is documented in this publication.
