She described this work in a poem, The colonies of bees undermining the moles' subversive effort through time, to which she gave expression in two connected, but spatially separated installations, one in the White Salon in Schloss Ettersburg, the other in the tram depot located in the centre of Weimar. She gave the two pieces the joint title Concert for Buchenwald. Down in the town centre Rebecca Horn formulates the abdication of civilization as a notice of its loss. Sixty years earlier, its 'citizens saw the work, the name and the dignity of Goethe deeply stained by the construction of the concentration camp on the hill'; these were the words used at the time by the Goethe Society in a commemorative address directed at the perpetrators. The site chosen by the artist for the complementary piece, a more luminous, though by no means unbroken work, was the White Salon in the castle on top of the hill that overshadows Weimar. It has been a constant principle and purpose of the Kulturstadt Weimar Foundation to draw attention to neglected sites in the town, so as to establish a dialogue between the town's history and innovative, contemporary work created by artists. Rebecca Horn has embraced this dialogue and through her art transformed it into a sculptural event. The idea of using of these two particular sites began to take shape in her mind little more than one and a half years ago. She has now charted her course, setting her marks in ashes in one place, and in glowing light in the other.
