Bright green endpapers. Volume two of van Dongen's botanical photo book trilogy Alba Nero, Vulgaris and Nudare, with an introduction by John Behrendt. In this volume van Dongen introduces thirty-two full page duotone portraits of flowers in extraordinary close-ups printed on matte paper. "The title of the book, "Vulgaris", means common, but I suspect van Dongen intends a bit of irony here. Granted, the flowers are all familiar enough; there is not a rare one among them. But the portraits are anything but ordinary." (Behrendt). Minor blemishes to clamshell box.
