Collection of Works of Tian Han: About the book:Tian Han (1898-1968), originally known as Tian Shouchang,was born in Changsha, Hunan on March 12, 1898.He is the screenplay writer of modern dramas, Chinese operas and films, poet, literary critic and social activist.He is also one of the founder of Chinese modern drama.With the experience in Japan in his early years, he started the drama creation in 1920s. He wrote nearly 70 dramas, created and adapted over 30 traditional Chinese operas and created and shot over 20 films.He composed the lyrics of the March of the Volunteers - the national anthem of the People`s Republic of China.He was killed in the Great Cultural Revolution.In 1916, the poor Tian Han, funded by his uncle, was enrolled in Tokyo Higher Normal Institute.In 1919, he joined the Association of Young China organized by Li Dazhao and Wang Guangqi and started publishing poems and comments.In 1920, he created Violin and Rose and One Night in Cafe.In 1921, he organized the Creation Society with Guo Moruo, Cheng Fangwu and Yu Dafu with an aim to advocate new-vernacular literature.In 1922, he returned to China and got employed by the Editorial of Zhonghua Book Company.In 1924, Tian Han and his wife Yi Shuyu founded Semimonthly of South China and published one-act play Night of Tiger Hunting, which was played in various schools of shanghai and had a great significance.In 1925, Yi Shuyu died of illness in Changsha. Tian Han served as a teacher in Changsha No.1 Normal Institute, Shanghai University and The Great China University.In 1926, he founded South China Film Club in Shanghai with Tang Huaiqiu and shot the film Join the Folks, which was never played.
