Hence the interest in providing secondary school teachers and students in the twelve countries of the Community with a work aimed primarily at charting a common pool of information on the European identity and encompassing the main thrust of ideas and the essential features of European civilization. In order to reflect current Community policy more faithfully, the book does not set out to replace the curricula taught at the various national schools. Rather, it is intended to supplement them in the form of a uniform and identical -adjunct- to education, with a view to imparting a better knowledge of and greater love for Europe.
