De Nederlandse landschapsfotograaf Jan Koster (1959) is bekend door zijn fotocollages van panoramische landschappen. Rivieren, kolken, uiterwaarden en weilanden zijn herhaaldelijk onderwerp geweest van een ruimtelijk breedbeeld. Dat Kosters liefde voor het Nederlandse Landschap groot is, blijkt uit het project Dutchscapes. Van 2002 tot en met 2006 heeft hij de Nederlandse kust in een indrukwekkende reeks systematisch fotografisch in kaart gebracht. Net zoals bij de panoramische fotocollages is ook het uitgangspunt voor de kusten topografisch: via gedetailleerde kaarten, luchtfoto' s en satellietfoto's gaat de fotograaf op zoek naar potentiële plekken in het landschap. Dutchscapes geeft een panoramisch overzicht van de diversiteit van de Nederlandse kust. Jan Koster werd in Kampen geboren, maar woont en werkt in Amsterdam. Hij studeerde geschiedenis aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, en volgde de opleiding Fotografische Vormgeving aan de Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
