Continuous war and violent conflict during the 1990s, economic turbulence, and gradual transition from the authoritative regimes and the socialist federal systems to democracy-oriented countries, have contributed to development of the civil society in countries of the former Yugoslavia. The Centre for Regionalism was one of the first nongovernmental organizations focusing on these problems in Serbia. Different regional initiatives launched by the Centre for Regionalism have resulted in the establishment of three regional networks. Their members include local self-governments from the countries of South Eastern Europe, NGOs, professionals and experts in various fields. This unique basis has been the source of creativity, mobility, and provided good opportunities to act in different areas, ranging from territories affected by the war to the ones where peace has never been violated. This book was a logical step following the first concrete forms of cooperation with partners in Central Asia, as well as with many other organizations in South Eastern Europe. They were all willing to use the experiences and knowledge related to the activities implemented in post-conflict and transitional countries. Paperback, Label: Local Government and Public Service, Local Government and Public Service, Produktgruppe: Book, Publiziert: 2010-10-01, Studio: Local Government and Public Service, Verkaufsrang: 7802541.
