The Enneagram Inventory®, designed by Dee Dee and Patrick Aspell, helps you discover and appreciate your own unique, personal style of coaching. Both the person being coaching and the coach himself or herself are invited to take the Inventory. With an accurate picture of both the coach and the person being coaching, both are in an advantageous position to understand their interactions. The Enneagram Inventory®: (1) Is quick to self-administer; (2) Is self-scoring; (3) Provides a graph to profile the results: (4) Contains an explanation of the scores; (5) Describes clearly and briefly nine styles of coaching; (6) Includes questions and suggestions for reflecting on the results; (7) Is non-judgmental in respecting the value of all styles; (8) Is based on a unique, meaningful paradigm of personality; (9) Concisely describes directions of enhancement and reflections for coaching empowerment. In the first stage, each of the nine coaching styles is described in terms of 17 elements: motivation, strengths, limitations, feelings, client focus, evaluate clients by, influence by, clients influence them by, overdo, under stress, become more effective coaches by, are irritated by, irritate clients by, relate, communicate by, manage conflict by, and solve problems by. 6 dimensions of coaching are described as traits, process, thinking, relationships, coaching strategy, and appraisal. (2) The second step of the ACSI is to develop effective coaching skills for the coach. This brings us to Stage Two: Effective Coaching Skills. This stage consists of 10 steps for effective coaching which include: Discover coaching style; develop rapport; analyze coaching style traits; describe center; discuss instinct; plan goals and growth; observe principle; understand ethical status; discern spirituality of each style; facilitate transformation in thinking, feeling, and action. In addition, there are tips for coaches, which include personal invitations or coaching strategies and coaching activities. (3) The third step is to enhance the coaching skills of both the coach and the person being coached. Here the “arrows” and “wings” of coaching tell coaches the direction of development for themselves and the persons being coached. Charts and numerous descriptions make the direction of development very clear. Another unique feature of this work is the opportunity to crystallize one’s coaching style in a word self-portrait and a portrait of another person, and also to build a relationship with others.
