Fifty Years of Development of the World Religion Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (1964-2014): In late 1963, Chairman Mao Zedong gave his important mandate on specialized, academic and institutional religious research. The second generation of party leadership, led by Deng Xiaoping believe that "e practice is the sole criterion of truth"e , and launched nationwide campaigns to address historical and ideological questions around the Cultural Revolution. The whole country walked out of the shadow of the catastrophic event and enjoyed fast and tremendous development, until it is really rising as a world power. It is the wise leadership of the CCP since the Chinese economic reform that brought out the prosperity of the society and our academic breakthroughs. Chinese religious studies has been growing in this context. We should celebrate its achievements and contribute to its expansion and innovation. In the process of social transformation and development, the World Religion Research Institute carries on the work of predecessors to make new progress, and plays a guiding role in the expansion and innovation of the discipline.
